Halloween Screening and Discussion of Blood Quantum
Celebrate Halloween with a different kind of zombie film. In partnership with the South Carolina Commission for Community Advancement and Engagement and the Native American Film & Video Festival of the Southeast, the Horry County Museum will host a screening and discussion of the film Blood Quantum on October 31 at 1 p.m. Blood Quantum combines intense horror with a powerful Indigenous perspective, using the zombie genre to explore colonialism, sovereignty, intergenerational trauma, cultural survival, and the meaning of identity. Set in an alternate 1981, a zombie plague spreads across the world, but the Indigenous residents of the fictional Mi’kmaq reserve of Red Crow are mysteriously immune.
